Vikas M Gore

I get up on a Monday morning and look forward to the week. I’ve wanted to be an architect from when I was a child and I still get a kick out of it.

With four decades of experience, Vikas M Gore’s approach to architectural design is that one should design for the present and in accordance to one’s social and climatic context, while pushing the envelope of knowledge and technology that are currently available. In fact, Vikas was the person responsible for establishing DP Architects as one of the earliest firms in the world to make a serious commitment to Computer-Aided Design by introducing the firm to computers in the 1980s.

Throughout his years as an architect and in his works, he subscribes to the view that quality detailing and excellence in execution is fundamental to the realisation of good design. To this, the renowned Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay performing arts centre in Singapore, which he was a project director of, stands as testimony. Combine this with the integrity and strength of his character, Vikas has bridged many partnerships and successful collaborations in the course of his career. His business acumen has also enabled the director at DPA to open opportunities for the design practice in India.
